Physical medicine and rehabilitation, also referred to as physiatry or rehabilitation medicine, is a branch of medicine concerned with the evaluation and treatment of people with musculoskeletal injuries, pain syndromes, and/or other physical or cognitive impairments. Your Physiatrist works with your orthopaedic surgeon to provide maximum restoration or development of physical, psychological, social, occupational and vocational functions in persons whose abilities have been limited by disease, trauma, congenital disorders or pain to enable people to achieve their maximum functional abilities. |
